Africa is a continent of progress. While Kenya holds the same skyscraping ambitions as the entire continent, it lacks empowerment. Rural districts require entrepreneurs to support their economics. Supporting these small operations is imperative to African progress. Especially in the case of Community-Based Organizations or CBOs which are funded and operated entirely by volunteers.
Supporting small efforts
Enter the scene of Migwani District. There a small community has assembled a children’s help organization. They call themselves FirmRock Children’s Helper. The staying power of their endeavors is in their name. With good grace, they will become a firm rock of support for the orphans and disabled in this locale. They will do it by becoming a small economic power of the district.
For this, they will need your support.
Operations of interest
A mainstay of Firm Rock’s marketability is its culturally appealing beadwork. The organization prides itself on small handbags and decorations crafted with artisan care. Each piece is made by hand. Either the staff or the children or both take part in creating them. All parties involved are building their job skills. They are enhancing their employability by these efforts. Creating an exclusive product, they offer a unique branding scheme for FirmRock.
Every time you invest in the handcraft operation, you are investing in FirmRock as a self-sufficient staple of Migwani. FirmRock is the current caregiver of roughly 25 children and counting. These children, as you will see in a soon-coming article, are total orphans. Firm-Rock is their total support system. The developing world is heavily dependant on community-based supports.
FirmRock’s farming ambitions
FirmRock will not stop at novelty items. Developing a strong economic foundation will take years of effort. That is why we are beginning a farming operation. One that will fully sustain the nutritional needs of our children and our workers. Also, one that will give us produce and livestock we can bring to the marketplace.
Farming is a challenge over the known world. In Kenya, where droughts and sweeping rains alike ravage the ground, farming can be an epic struggle. Investments can be lost almost as soon as they’re made. That’s why, when you support our organization, you are making an evergreen investment. You are supporting an entire community with a micro-investment that survives the harsh elements of our seasons. With this empowerment, we will feed our village, and then those surrounding. The nation follows us. When you invest in Africa, you invest in the produce of the world.
Starting small
Monetary donations help us with temporary endeavors. These are always appreciated. Now, you can make a petty cash donation to us via PayPal. There is a button on our "Donate" page that helps you through the process.
Still, we don’t ask for these only. Primarily, we prefer the investment of your time. When you share this article, you are helping us to brand beyond the curve we can reach with poor internet speeds. Every time you visit our site you help Google or other search engines find us. You help us take advertising space we need but can’t afford.
Finally, when you take a personal interest in our children. In their clothing, food, shelter, medical expenses, etc. you are taking interest in Africa. You are building the welfare of humanity. For just like ecosystems in nature, every human population reflects on all the rest.
